Metal Rage; A New Mechwarrior-Type Warfare

Browsing through MMOSite, me and my brother, Infestor51 chanced upon this new game company from South Korea called "GameHi".. Recently, they showcased all of their new 6 games that they are going to release all at once.. They are Project M (Metal Rage), Project L, Project E, Project A, Project D and Project K (Karcass Online)..

The one that fascinates both of us is this mech game called "Metal Rage"; A Robotic Online Action TPS.. Before I say more, here is the Promo video of the game:

Well, as the Promo video shows, its an online battle pitted against mechs.. Well, the design on the mechs look sleek and very futuristic but I remember seeing some parts of their design are taken from MechWarrior.. But heck, Mechwarrior is an old game.. ^^

Here is the backstory of the game:

In A.D. 2070, humans have struggled with one another in order to survive in the universe. To follow one's instinct and desires to survive, every human must join one of 3 large-scaled groups formed with the purpose of depriving the others of their powers to govern the world.

There are currently 4 types of robots in the game..

1st) A scout-type robot, agile and can eliminate enemies quickly..

2nd) A Heavy Mech with tanking abilities.. A frontline mech which has an ability to melee other mech opponents with its chainsaw and flamethrower..

3rd) An Engineer-Type Mech.. Ability to repair damaged mechs and is able to deploy into a stationary gun to spam against the enemy.. Weapon is usually a cannon-based..

4th) The most dangerous mech perhaps its the Spider Mech.. Has 2 cannons that can pulverized the enemies with one click of the button.. Has an ability to do sniping (as shown below) on faraway enemies..

Well, when this game comes out, I will get myself registered and play this awesome game.. This must be one of the coolest online mech game I've seen after I played Mechwarriors..

StormRise: A 4-in-1 Games All Rolled Into 1

Browsing through the Gametrailers site, I chanced upon this RTS game which interest me.. The game, named StormRise, is a RTS game being developed by Creative Assembly and Sega..
Well, you can say that it is a 4-in-1 type of game, having characters that are maybe inspired from older games such as "Dawn of War", "Doom 3"/"Gears of War", "Mechwarriors" and "Predator"..

Why did I say all of those games? The reasons are stated below so do read on..

StormRise picks up the popular post-apocalyptic theme, presenting a civilization that has begun to once again emerge after a catastrophic event... You have the ability to control units in the air, on the surface, and even underground...

So why did I say that StormRise takes its idea from 4 different games? Well for a start lets look at "Dawn of War".. Apparently, one of your main objectives is to take over a node which is energy source in the game..
Once captured, you can place a building on it to collect the energy as resources.. The building can even transform into a defence turret to defend against enemy raids.. Does this feels like "Dawn of War" to you?? ^^
Then there are some units belonging to a faction that has features which resembles those from other games.. 1st example is the cloaking assassins which can sneak behind enemy lines and slaughter any infantries who are busy defending a node or base..

The unit looks almost similar to the Predator.. But I find it cool since its been a long time since I saw a cloaked assassin-based unit in Starcraft..

Then there is the giant monster which can become a huge front-liner + tanker.. It resembles monsters from Doom 3/Gears of War whatever your pick..
I like how it becomes the target for enemy fire when its sheer size can take a lot of damage, judging from the video itself.. Well, we have to see more videos of this game to know more about this unit..

Then lastly, we have the Mechwarriors.. Woah.. Giant-killa beast vs. Mechwarriors; Mechwarriors win..

Their design looks sleek and outright futuristic.. It reminds me of Battlefield 2142 though.. xD
Well, I can expect this mech to have a weapon switch ability so that it can switch attack between anti-infantry to maybe anti-air/anti-tank.. Well, the game is still in development stage so there might be alot of changes going on with the units etc..

StormRise is slated to be released in 2009.. It will be released not only as a console RTS game for X-Box360 and PS3, it will also be released on PC too.. Awesome..

Lonely September Cleaning

Another season sets in and I am feeling abit stressed out.. Apparently I cant find my receipts for the GSC 1/8 Hatsune Miku and 1/8 Beats Haruka.. Thinking they might be in the piles of rubbish books/files, I went ahead to start my first Autumn-Cleaning..

But looking at that makes me decide that I had to clear up any trash so that I wont misplace anything else in the future..

Man, that looks messed up..

Well, it wasn't hard getting those junks out of my shelf.. The hard part was sorting out the real trash from the rest..
Among those trash I did find some stuff worth keeping, for a longer while that is.. One example is this; a guide book for the Singapore Toys & Comic Convention and 2 Tofu-man toys..

Wanted to give the toys away but there were no takers.. Pity.. Well, if anyone wants it you can PM me via chatbox..

Next up is these 2 Granado Espada Invitation Card.. Yeah, you heard me right.. These cards were given for the launch of the game how many moooons ago.. The launch party was held at Zouk and well, I didnt get to enjoy the party..
The contents of the envelopes... The card was well-made.. Too bad the game didn't catch on with everyone, thought the OST was good.. ^^

Now BEHOLD, I recently discovered my very old book back in the primary school days.. It was my Gamefaqs of the old days.. Back then, friends kept asking me the cheat codes for alot of games.. This was my secret weapon back then.. xD

Well for example, I scanned this page filled with Age of Empires 2 cheats.. Well, I doubt anyone is still playing this game when there is AOE3..

So after sorting the trash from the rest, I placed the trash into the plastic bag provided.. Well, the trash filled up about 3 small trash bags..

Seriously, I just realised that I have been keeping too much junks in the house.. x.X
I did summon help from Sword Impulse and Force Impulse to do the sorting for me.. Doing all this work all by myself will take hours to accomplish.. xD
After 1 hour of mass cleaning and sorting and with the help of the Impulses, I have finally managed to clear up alot of spaces from the shelf..

This means that I have enough space to place my figmas, especially Figma Hatsune Miku.. Well, thats all I have for today.. And yeah, I finally found my 2 receipts for the 2 figures.. ^^

So how about you?? Do you do your Annual Cleaning of your room?

As for now, I think I better take a rest from all of that work.. Too much energy was drained during the 1 hour period.. :(

Classic Anime Revisited - Neo Ranga

It has been a long while since I watched any classic anime shows.. However, after some spring cleaning of the house, I somehow discovered my DVD box of Neo Ranga stashed somewhere in the closet.. Though the cover box is torn in some places, the CDs and the CD casing looks quite intact after 6 years of MIA..

I thought I gave this show another look so that I can recall whats the whole show is about and what made it interesting..

Well, the story goes like this:

The Shimahara sisters (Manami, Ushio, and Yuuhi) are living on their own, with the eldest sister as their breadwinner, when a young man from the fictional South Pacific Island of Barou arrives with news of their long-missing brother.

Their brother had married into the Barou royalty, but since he passed away, leaving the sisters as the hereditary rulers of Barou. As the new rulers of Barou, they now fall under the protection of the island's god, Neo Ranga, which turns out to be a gigantic monster. When Ranga followed them to Tokyo, it soon becomes a source of wonder and conflict for the three sisters that control Ranga, the people who want to destroy it, and ones who want to use it.

After watching quite a number of episodes, I had a nostalgic feeling.. The show is interesting, given its lack of graphics and effects back in the 90s..

On one hand, this looks like it was partially inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion, judging by the looks of Neo Ranga; a large semi-organic mecha..

Darn, he even roars like Eva-01 when it goes berserk..

Well, at least this classic show has pretty girls, even lolies too.. ^^

Well, the first few episodes are kinda sketchy but the show will be great somewhere near the end of season 1.. Yes, there is a total of 48 episodes, splitting into 2 seasons..

Maybe I am just a sucker for girls holding weapons but yeah this show does have some nice feeling to it.. I hope I get to finish all episodes by the end of this week before my school projects start to pile up on me..

So let me ask you, what other classic anime shows do you guys watch back then?? ^^

Es(v0.40) - A Moe Mecha Game

I finally have some free time to review this long overdue game.. Unfortunately blogger wasn't very kind with ".png" picture format so I have to spend some precious time changing them to ".jpg".. Luckily, Firefox3 helped out in making uploading a breeze..

Anyway, back to the topic at hand.. This is "Es", a fast-paced action game where you control a MOE character(sadly, I don't know her name..).. Before we get into details about the game, let me show you the Option settings menu:

This game is made by "9th Night", famously known for the Blood-Over- doujin game.. This trial game was released during the last Comiket and hopefully it will get released this Summer Comiket on 15th-16th August..

In this game, your character have to battle against big robots that have attacked a city.. Your mission is to find out what is their purpose and exterminate them..

So the story starts out from a scene of a Chinook helicopter flying over the city..

Then the story talks about the professor telling your character(Lets give her a name, "Es") about the invasion and telling her to eliminate them..

She is just so MOE~~

So the real action begins when Es dash into the battle.. Now as a new player, its pretty hard to find out which keys do what function.. Well, this is what a review is for.. So first up let me teach you the Control functions of this game..


Controls(Movements):

Move - Arrow Keys

Dash - Press "C" (Done while you are moving)

Jump - Press "C" TWICE (May or may not work)


Controls(Attack Skills):

Melee - Press "Z" (Tap "Z" many times to do attack combo).

Upward-Slash - Press "Z" + UP Arrow Key.

Missiles - Press "Q" (Can only work if you buy the missile upgrade[Explained below]).

Shotgun/Machinegun - Tap "X" to attack.

Homing Lasers - Hold "X" as long as you like and release (The longer the better; Similar to that from Panzer Dragoon Saga).


Last but not least we have the "Ulti" attack.. Problem is that it is limited according to the "Power" gauge (Highlighted in Red).. The only way to get "Power" energy is to kill as many enemies as you can..

"Ulti" attack - Press "X" + "Z" at the same time.

Watch those lasers PWNED the enemy

Now we are done with the controls.. Hope those aren't tl;dr or hard to understand.. Those are the default keys after you download the trial game..

Let me show you all the opponents that you will be fighting in this game:


Mobs lists:

"C-09" - Shoots machinegun bullets.

I-201 - Flying units that shoots machinegun bullets.

C-20M Missiler - Shoot homing missiles at intervals.

Homing missiles are not very "homing" but they pack alot of dmg.

I-201M - Bigger versions of I-201. Shoots machinegun bullets.

C-22 Flame - Uses flamethrower when it gets close to you.

Now let us go for a short break from the Mobs List.. If you complete the level, a scoreboard will appear and tally up your score and show you what rank you have achieved for that stage..

Mine was a "C" due to me wanting to take my sweet time taking snapshots of this game..

After you finish the 1st stage, you are then asked whether you want to save your game at this point of time.. Well, it is ok if you accidentally press "NO" since there is an option to save in the intermission menu..

In here, there is an "Upgrade" option which you can use your points that you have gathered from the previous stage to purchase weapons or upgrade them.. Since this is a trial game, you are only allowed to purchase weapons..

After you do your purchase, you can equip them in the "Equip" option.. You are only allowed 2 weapons of choice and 2 passive abilities..

Now let us go back to the Mob List for the next stage.. There are only 2 new mobs in the 2nd stage of this game.. The rest are the same ones from the 1st stage so let me show you now the 2 new mobs:

S-08 Spider - Does melee by jumping at you at close-range.

D3-R4 Carrier - Just a carrier that carries a C-09 mob under it.

They are just sitting ducks for your character to get more points. You can kill them or just let those carriers fly away after dropping off the C-09s.

Now let us move on to Mini-bosses. They are abit harder to kill than normal mobs and have their own unique way to attack you. Let me show you the mini-bosses in this game..


Mini-Bosses:

[1st Stage]: C-18d Commander - Shoots Homing Missiles at long-range

While shoots BIG machinegun bullets when close-range.

[2nd Stage]: D3-R9 Carrier - Shoots "Ground Pounder" at you. Also have the ability to spawn 2 "I-201b" to attack you with machinegun bullets..



OK, those are just the Mini-bosses.. Now let us focus onto the Main bosses in this game.. Without further ado, lets go check them out:


BOSSES:


[1st Stage]: C-20000 Canser (Health - 25000Hp)


Attacks:

1st attack: Dash at you

2nd attack: Long-range flamethrower

3rd attack: "Ground Pounder", followed with big laser bolts shot at you.

But heck, if you charge enough "Power", you can do 2 ulti attacks on it to kill it quickly.. The obss has a final aatack but you get to know once you play the game.. ^^

[2nd Stage]: Unknown (Health - 30000Hp)

This lady is almost the same as Es just that she has wings that can detach and fly to wards you, dealing alot of damage..


After you destroy her wings, she will go into berserk mode.. Play the game if you know what I mean.. XD


Well, that is all the information I have after having some fun playing this game.. I hope you will some fun playing this game to kill some free time when you are bored or in school..
